My current social media presence is nothing to show off, it’s simple and rather keep it like that. My reasoning for that is, I don’t have anything to promote or see a point in having an attractive social page. I’m simply a college student that really doesn’t need to have a huge following or post in whatever I’m doing. I believe that social media should be to promote things; either it’s for business or an individual just promoting itself like their fashion sense or some interesting that they’ve come up with.
As previously stated, my personal brand is a simple college student, for others that may be the same thing except they may be more active than me or have more of a presence online. I’m not trying to say that I don’t see the benefits of having large personal brands on social media, it’s actually quite the opposite. In today’s digital age social media is a huge part of human lives, it has brought many positives for people to become influencers to grow out their brand, and it has allowed for companies to reach out to other audiences.
Ideally if I were to grow my social media presence it would be once I enter the work field in what I’m studying, and from time to time I might have interesting things to promote or such. I am a second year Computer Science major with a minor in Digital Marketing. So the interest that I have do have to correspond with technology and social media does come to play in both the fields in which I am studying. So once I enter the work field maybe my social media presence would increase, especially if I have some job in Digital Marketing. But either way if my professional job requires to have a strong social media presence then I feel that I would know the skills required to make myself look good that can attract an audience.
